Best bedding for burrowing — paper or hemp?

Paper is cheap and easy to find but it does not hold tunnels at all in my experience.

Hemp seems to hold shape better. Anyone compared them side by side over a few weeks?

If he is hunched and not eating by morning, go to the vet. Waiting is the one thing you cannot undo.

What sand are you using? I have been nervous about dust.

Paper holds a tunnel if you pack it down, hemp is better straight out of the bag. I ended up mixing the two.

Two weeks of each here. Hemp for tunnels, paper for the nest itself. Neither wins outright.

Does hemp hold up in the pee corner the same way? Paper falls apart for me there within a day.

Hemp held shape much longer in my cage. Paper collapsed overnight every time.
